Symbel is an English Heathen Metal project that began in 2001 with the production of a raw and atmospheric demo tape (that was not actually released until late 2003). The aim was to create music that reflected the positive and heroic elements of what has become known as European Heathenism, at a time when little was known of the genre. The following year work began on the debut full length CD, which was released in January 2003 by the label run by fellow Englishmen Forefather. We Drink - Hymns and Counsel of Anglo-Saxon Heathenry was released in early 2003 by Angelisc Enterprises (now Seven Kingdoms) and is now sold out and a highly sought, cult release. In 2004 Midhir reissued a selection of tracks from the very limited demo tape on thick, black 10" vinyl and strictly limited to 333 copies.
