Hexxed hail from Northern Ireland, a grim patch of dirt on Europe's most western landmass. Guitarist Owen Boden founded Hexxed in '96 with drummer Gerard Bentley; in early '00 the lineup comprising also bassist Gerard Richie and guitarist Ciaran Tracey, previously of NI death/gore stalwarts Abbattoir recorded the "Perish the Sacred" demo, whose music was characterised mainly by influences from Immolation, Incantation, Death and Morbid Angel. It was exceptionally well received with noted reviews and over 400 punters to date picking it up. This demo attracted the attention of Dublin's Sentinel Records (Abaddon Incarnate, Mourning Beloveth, Scavenger) who included a cut from the demo on their double cd compilation of the best of Irish metal, "In Unison", which also featured tracks from Waylander, Primordial and Cruachan. After these initial successes a decidedly shaky year was had in 2001, and the band went on hiatus. 2002 saw a rejuvinated Hexxed with the replacing of the band's rhythm section. Drummer Niall Kelly and bassist Ryan Kinkead entered at the beginning of the year; by 2003 enough material was ready for the "Transgression" demo, a massive step away from its predecessor and their most intense musical effort to date. This cd comprises 23 minutes of layered, dense, and varied extreme metal: from the Angelcorpse-esque brutality of "To Summon Thirteen" to the Cynic, Death and Atheist inspired "Dark Days", this demo has garnered nothing but critical acclaim wherever it is heard. On the strength of this demo and their captivating live performances the band were commissioned to produce two tracks for a 7" EP release on Midhir. Where Gods Look Away was recorded over a period of 6 months and released in 2005 on coloured vinyl with extensive artwork by Glyn of Scrawled Art.
